EUDY - European Union of Deaf Youth

EUDY is an organisation of and for young Deaf people in EU and Europe in the ages of 18-30. The organisation is non-profit and based on voluntary work of young Deaf people. EUDY is governed by a Board. The Board has five members, who are elected by the General Assembly of EUDY.

The board members are: President Sean Herlihy (Ireland), Secretary Minna Katainen (Finland), Jaroslav Cehlarik (Slovak Republic), Kilian Knoerzer (Germany) and Johanna Karmgard (Sweden). They were elected at the general assembly in Dublin, Ireland, August 2006.

The most important activity of EUDY is the biennal EuroCamp. EUDY gives responsibility of arranging the camp to the national Deaf youth organisation of the country which wants to organize the Camp.

The vision of EUDY is to achieve a Pan-European Deaf youth community with no national borders. It means more student exchanges, more Pan-European activities, creating a European consciousness among Deaf youth in Europe.

EUDY wants to improve the co-operation and social life between European Deaf youth. We will pay special attention to the new EU countries. We will invite them to the EuroCamps and introduce them to new Deaf encounters.

For the next 4 years EUDY will focus on:

Close collaboration and meetings with EUD
Collaboration with WFDYS and other organisations
Create strong Deaf Youth citizens in Europe
Create EUDY Junior Camp for 13-17 years.
Create EUDY Camp for Deaf Children for 9-12 years.
Own established office
Create Youth activities such as seminars, workshops or events following the remit of EUDY
Research on Deaf Youth in Europe
Share knowledge and empowerment for new EU member and Ex-Soviet countries
