On 1 September 2004, right on time for the start of work after the summer break, the eye-catching yellow and blue stop-discrimination truck set off on its European tour with the motto “For Diversity. Against Discrimination.” Weighing close to 30 tons, the giant truck is touring all over Europe to inform citizens about the European and national legislation to combat discrimination at the workplace and to raise awareness about discrimination issues. After the official launch in Brussels, the truck started its 10-week journey through 10 countries including Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Denmark, Ireland, UK, France and Italy, for the first time introducing the campaign in five of the new EU countries to a wider public in both rural and urban areas.
This mobile information platform features information and event tools like a stage, info-terminals, multimedia applications, film presentations, etc. A special highlight will be the stop-discrimination Europe Quiz, whereby visitors can test their knowledge about the EU anti-discrimination guidelines. Moreover, visitors can inform themselves on the spot how people can protect themselves against discrimination in employment on the basis of the EU directives.
